Kindly note that this is a cash pay practice, which means that I do not accept insurance.

But do check with your insurance company to see if their provider pays out of network benefits; if so, I can provide a super bill that clients can submit to insurance for possible reimbursement.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is a cash pay practice, which means that I do not accept insurance. But check with your insurance company to see if their provider pays out of network benefits; if so, I can provide a super bill that clients can submit to insurance for possible reimbursement.

  • Yes, but I have a limited number of sliding scale posts.

  • I was a teacher for 20 years. I have a lot of experience working with students at the K-12 level and I understand and sympathize with the challenges that they face, so it has been natural for me to work with children and adolescents in counseling.

  • Sessions are either 50 minutes or 80 minutes.

  • My goal is to help my clients as quickly and efficiently as possible. It is not uncommon for me to see significant improvement in clients after 4-6 months, but sometimes it takes longer. It really depends on the symptoms and underlying causes that we are addressing and it also depends upon the level of engagement that clients bring into sessions in between sessions.

  • I am legally bound to keep all of your information confidential, which means that I will not disclose any information about my clients to anyone unless I have a release of information signed for that person and for that particular information. Keep in mind, however, that parents do have a right to access records related to their minor children without the need for a release of information signed by the minor.

There are, however, three limits of confidentiality. First, if you report imminent risk to yourself or another person (i.e. plans and intent to kill yourself or another person). Second, if you disclose to me that a minor or a vulnerable adult is being abused, then I am required (as a mandated reporter) to report to Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services. If I receive a subpoena or court order, I would need to respond to the court order.

  • I require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment, otherwise you will be charged the full amount of the session. This is because I regularly have new and existing clients who are eagerly waiting for slots to open up, but it is hard to fill those slots at the last minute. If there is a legitimate emergency, you will not be charged of course. If you are not able to make it into the office for your appointment, we may be able to meet via telehealth.

  • I am not qualified to prescribe medication but I may be able to refer you to a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner who can discuss medication options with you.
