My Specialties & Counseling Modalities

Marital Strife

  • Are you needing help with communication and conflict resolution?

  • Are you seeing a need to identify and work through underlying sources of conflict that trigger arguments day by day, week by week?

  • Has strife reached a point of crisis that requires immediate attention?

I work with husbands, wives, and couples to help you resolve marital strife and bring peace and love back to your marriage.

Parenting Challenges

Is your child defiant? Have you tried traditional parenting strategies and they just are not working? Does your child get anxious on levels that are beyond what seems normal/healthy?

Do you have a blended family and you are finding that your efforts to implement discipline are resisted by your spouse or your step-children?

I work with single parents, two-parent families, and blended families to help you calmly take back control of your relationship with your children.

Depression

Most people experience sadness, grief, and even passing feelings of hopelessness and despair from time to time.

Depression becomes a problem when it interferes with your daily  functioning.

Feeling lethargic, sad, low energy and finding no interest in things that once brought pleasure are signs of depression. Having no appetite, low libido, and chronic hopelessness are depressive symptoms as well.

Depression can be situational or chronic. Situational depression occurs when a tragedy or trauma comes into our lives that we are having difficulty dealing with.

Chronic depression is longer lasting. It is often related to low self-confidence which leads to a lack of hope, and it may be complicated by a genetic predisposition toward depression.

I can help you with both situational or chronic depression through safe and effective counseling modalities that get to the root of your depression.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be brought on by the illusion of control: trying to control things that we can’t.

When we leave the present moment and try to control the future, we lose our peace. It is often the case that anxiety is circumstantial and can be resolved through setting boundaries or making lifestyle changes.

Sometimes anxiety is more deeply rooted, either because of a genetic predisposition or as a result of difficult experiences in early childhood.

My expertise is in getting to the deeper causes of your anxiety, and using modalities such as EMDR to eradicate the source so you can feel peaceful once again.

Borderline Personality Disorder

  • Do you suspect that your spouse may have Borderline Personality Disorder?

  • Does your spouse accuse you of things that seem to make no sense?

  • Does your spouse have an intense fear of abandonment, intense feelings of anger, jealousy of your close relationships with family or friends?

  • Does your spouse experience feelings of emptiness and display emotional instability in reaction to various triggers?

If you answered yes to some or all of these questions, it may be an indication that you are married to someone with BPD. If so, then you are likely experiencing a level of marital instability that you need help with. Let me guide you through handling a relationship with someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, so you can feel in control again.

Sexual Addiction

  • Did your spouse or fiance recently find out that you are addicted to pornography?

  • Is this a problem that you have struggled with for years and you have struggled to overcome?

Some people have iron willpower and give it up via the “white knuckle” route, but the best route for everyone else is in identifying the root cause of the problem and addressing those.

I’m an expert at helping you get to the root cause of the problem, so you can kick your addiction for good.
